What Is Girls in Action (GA)?
GA is a comprehensive missions education program, for girls in grades 1-6, which includes praying for missions, engaging in missions action and witness, learning about missions, developing spiritually toward a missions lifestyle, participating in the work of the church and denomination, and supporting missions.Through participation in GA, girls grow in their knowledge, understanding, and application of the Bible. They also learn from the example of missionaries, believers, and hands-on mission action what it means to actively engage in ministering to others with the compassion of Christ.
GA is a program of the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU). Founded in 1888, WMU is an auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention that seeks to equip adults, youth, children and preschoolers with missions education to become radically involved in the mission of God.

Girls in Action (GA) at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho are involved weekly in learning about missions, praying for missions, giving to missions and participating in the work of the church! Our GA projects have included studying missionaries and their families around the world. We explore missions in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and even mission efforts right here in the United States of America. Some of our projects have included prayer walks for the ministries of our church and the ministry leaders. We collect and package hygiene and snack items for our homeless ministry. We have helped with fundraisers for our Chiapas Orphanage ministry. We have had several missionaries from around the world come and speak with our group about their work for Christ, sharing pictures, artifacts, and many neat stories. Our GA's also collect offering each week to give to mission organizations to help families that are serving as missionaries around the world. One of the highlights of GA's each year is GA Camp. Last summer we spent four wonderful days in Glorietta- paddle boating, hiking, doing challenge courses, miniature golfing, singing around a campfire, having water balloon fights, playing many fun games, all while learning about loving our world with our words! This year our summer plans are to attend the state GA camp at Inlow and we expect it to be great fun! If you're a girl age 7-12 and you'd like to learn more about missions and have lots of fun while learning, you should come and check us out! Sunday Nights 5-6 pm.
